Illustrated postcards -postal stationery – from the Soviet period
During the Soviet era, a large number of illustrated postcards is issued as a postal stationary, including Palanga theme.
Stamped -ansichtkaarten, relating to Lithuania, can be found in the catalog “Ženklinių Pasto Atvirukų: Katalogas 1960-1991”. The catalog distinguishes cards with illustration (postcards), occasion (greeting) cards and cards with symbolic meaning.

This postal stationary has an imprinted stamp of the 10th series permanent postage stamps, with the year 1961.
For the postcards and illustrated postcards the postage stamp of the staring rocket of this series is used. In MGK 2004/05 four types of this imprinted postage stamp are distinguished:
I Letterpress printing (lines on background and moon with larger distance from each other)
II Offset (background and moon with the lines finer)
III Offset (finer lines on the background, moon without lines)
IV Rotogravure / Photogravure (background and moon rasterized)

Four series ‘illustrated postcards’ are in this period issued with this imprinted stamp:
- In 1961 with state arms in the middle above the -single- separation line between address data and the written message of the sender, printing data in 2 lines. In MGK: P 276-277
- In 1961-1967 a double separation line between the address data and the message, printing data in 1 line, for the printing house is used the abbrevation МПФ ГОЗНАКА. On the right side 34 vertical bars between the address data and sender information. In MGK: P 282-287
- In 1961-1967 idem, but the printing house full: МОСКОВСКАЯ ТИПОГРАФИЯ ГОЗНАКА or the abbreviation of it. In MGK: P 288-293
- In 1964-1966 the printing house ППФ ГОЗНАКА. On the right side 32 vertical bars between the address data and sender information. In MGK: P 294.This card has the printing data in 1 line and as printing house МПФ ГОЗНАКА. Also the card has a double separation line between the address data and message and 34 bars: P282-287.
Within this second series cards МПФ ГОЗНАКА. you can distinguish between letterpress printing, so with imprinted stamp type I (P 282-284) and offset, ( P285-287), all with type stamp II .
So this card P282-284. When we follow the schema below: violet/white P 283 I (with price indication 4 kop.).

Pakketten
The cards are also sold as a package: 10 pieces. Official numbers are basically unique numbers, but there are exceptions. The cards of the pack have the same publication number. Palanga was a tourist destination and therefore eligible for the issuance of such a package.
